Fished the Holder Ford Tourny at Clear Lake with Chris Z. Took 27th place out of 155 boats. First day we stayed north and fished the mouths of sloughs with ripbaits, Dry Creek Tubes and LV500's. We weighed 24.9 lbs and caught around 15 bass that day. Next day we caught a couple fish in the spots from the day before, and also flipped one on a jig in the keys, caught one on a ripbait in Konocti Bay, and flipped a few in Rodman Slough with a Brush Hog and a jig. Ended up catching 18.5 lbs that ... Continue reading ...

Sunday morning I arrive at the ramp, and find there is an ABA tournament going on. We wait for the 30 boats to launch, and then take off. It’s been warm and sunny all week, but the water temp on the main lake is still in the upper 50’s. The back of Dry Creek was our first stop. We start off throwing Brush Hogs, jigs and drop shots on a deeper rocky ledge that was near a spawning flat. The fish were schooled up there pretty good. We worked the area for two hours and caught 9 bass, ... Continue reading ...

Fished south the first day, spinnerbaits and flipping jigs worked best. Myself and two others caught 13 bass largest was 5 pounds. Second day started at the Keys and caught nothing, then fished north between Adobe Creek and Konocti Vista Casino. Caught 10 bass on swimbaits ( Osprey and Basstrix in light hitch), and Brush Hogs fished out of the tulies. Last day started at Lands End Marina and caught a couple out from the mouth on Brush Hogs, then fished the very north end of Lakeport. Drop ... Continue reading ...

We launched at 8:30 at the Konocti Vista Casino. It’s sunny, but still quite cold. Before we take off, we decide to make a few casts in the harbor. I gave Charlie the front of the boat, as he was making casts to the deeper pieces wood ahead of the boat, while I was flipping a jig way up in the wood. After only a few minutes of fishing, Charlie caught a nice 5.5 pounder on a Baby Brush Hog fished on a shakey head. We bounced around and fished a few more spots that had deeper wood that was... My friend Taylor and I hiked out to the dam at Kent Lake. We fished for about 4 hours and caught one bass each. Both were caught on Texas rigged plastics, (Baby Brush Hog, and Sweet Beaver). SPOT Personal Tracker GPS Waypoints Continue reading ...
September 26-28, 2009 California Delta
Launched at Big Break Marina
Saturday morning before the sun came up at 6 am. I was with two other anglers. Both were experienced bass fisherman but neither have targeted striped bass out on the
California Delta. Just as the sun
was coming up the tide turned and started rising. We exited the marina and immediately started seeing smaller
sized stripers busting smelt on the surface. Throwing topwater lures by the boils, we each caught a few
3-7 pounders. Poppers, Vixens, and
Lunker P... Continue reading ...

It’s 6:30 Thursday morning and
Tong, Tim and I launch out of Russo’s Marina. We make a 15-minute run south and fish the mouth of a dead
end slough near Orwood. The tide
had just peaked and started to push out.
Using a Shell Cracker on a tulle point, a nice bass swirled on the
swimbait, but missed it. As the
tide continued to push out, we moved into Rock Slough, but found no
action. Finally we caught a couple
on weighted senkos on the outside of Mandeville Island. Around 1pm ... Continue reading ...

It’s 8am, Max his father Carl and I pull up to the ramp. The weather is
perfect and all of us are excited to get out on the water. For them, this is the beginning of a
five day adventure. The first two
days will be spent teaching them the basics of bass fishing since they are
relatively new to the sport. Then
they will be fishing from a canoe they brought for the next three days. We were committed to the north side of
the lake since we wanted to find areas within a canoe ride of the... Continue reading ...

Lake Anderson
The first big storm of the year rolled through last
week. It was quite cold and
nasty. Once last weeks storm
passed, it warmed up quite fast.
Having three consecutive days of warm weather, I figured flipping wood
should be a solid afternoon pattern.
We put the boat in around 12:30, and worked our way
up the main lake, jumping from one piece of wood to the next. The water was still quite cold, 54
degrees, so we made sure to work our baits slow. Starting out with Brush Hogs
and Ji... Continue reading ...
