Good day on the Delta for stripers.  20 fish mostly 3-5 pounders, but one that went 15 pounds, caught on a Lunker Punker.  Ripbaits and hair jigs also worked well.  Big Break, Sherman Island, and San Juaquin River all produced fish.

The stripers have moved in!!!  For all who have asked about when to book a striper trip at the Delta, the answer is now.  Give me a call and lets get out there.  On this day, my friend Paul from Florida and I caught 25 stripers including one big 17.5 pounder.

December 11, 2009 California Delta

We were hit with a bad cold front about a week ago.  That storm only produced about an inch of rain, which wasn't enough to muddy up anything (which is good).  Right after that storm passed there was about three or four nights straight where the lows were in the 20's.  I'm sure at that point all the fish (stripers, largemouth, and baitfish) were all in a state of shock.  NOBODY, was on the water those few days, but I'm sure it would have been tough out there.  Thursday night some cloud cover ...

October 3, 2009 Clear Lake

Topwater baits caught a few nice bass today. A 5.5 on a Reaction Innovations Vixen, and a couple 4's on a Lunker Punker.  There was a hard north wind blowing, so we fished the area between Konocti Resort and Buckingham Point.  Mostly just a big flat with docks and scattered deep weed beds.  Tubes and jigs also caught a few fish on the rockpiles, but almost all the good ones that were protected from the wind had a boat on them.

September 26-28, 2009 California Delta

Launched at Big Break Marina  Saturday morning before the sun came up at 6 am.  I was with two other anglers.  Both were experienced  bass  fisherman but neither have targeted striped bass out on the California Delta.  Just as the sun was coming up the tide turned and started rising.  We exited the marina and immediately started seeing smaller sized stripers busting smelt on the surface.  Throwing topwater lures by the boils, we each caught a few 3-7 pounders.  Poppers, Vixens, and Lunker P...

Launch the boat at 6:15 just before sunrise at Big Break Marina.  The tide was going down and we still had a good four hours until it bottomed out.  We started on a weedy flat just outside the marina.  I was throwing a Lunker Punker and David was using a popper.  About 15 minutes into the day, David misses a good sized striper on the popper.  Not more than a couple minutes later, I see a guy fly fishing about 100 ft. away from me miss an absolute monster.  It looked like someone dropped a V...

David and I fished the south Delta targeting largemouth.  We had the video camera rolling with high hopes of getting some good footage of the new Shell Cracker Jr. (should be released a few months from now).  We caught a few little ones on that bait, but the big one I caught hit a Lunker Punker Jr.  She came off a grass flat right off the main river channel (Old River).  Weighed 5.5 pounds.  Pretty tough day overall, only 6 bass total.  Thought the overcast skies would have helped the topwate...

April 8, 2009 Loch Lomand Reservoir

Located up in the Santa Cruz hills, this lake can produce a catch of a lifetime.  This bass, which weighed just under 9 pounds, ate a Lunker Punker Jr.  Just before we were going to call it a day the fish slurped the swimbait right off the surface.  That was the one and only fish we caught that day.

March 26-27, 2009 California Delta

Posted by Rus Snyders on Thursday, August 27, 2009, In : California Delta

It’s 6:30 Thursday morning and Tong, Tim and I launch out of Russo’s Marina.  We make a 15-minute run south and fish the mouth of a dead end slough near Orwood.  The tide had just peaked and started to push out.  Using a Shell Cracker on a tulle point, a nice bass swirled on the swimbait, but missed it.  As the tide continued to push out, we moved into Rock Slough, but found no action.  Finally we caught a couple on weighted senkos on the outside of Mandeville Island.  Around 1pm ...
