Lots of fish but nothing over 1.5 pounds, Drop shoting robo worms in anywhere from 5-50 feet was the most productive technique. Fish were deep in the morning and moved shallower in the afternoon when the wind picked up. Spinnerbiats caught a couple as well. The lake is dropping fast because they plan on doing some work on the damn in a couple weeks. The lake will close once the work begins. Continue reading ...

May 9-10, 2010 California Delta
Despite the windy conditions, fishing was decent. Sunday we fished around Big Break, Franks Tract, and Little Mandeville Island and caught 10 bass. It was slow in the morning, but once the tide started to push in, we caught fish. Frogs worked when we got out of the wind, and spinnerbaits worked on the windier banks. At the end of the day I caught a 6.5 on a senko. Monday we fished around Little Franks Tract and caught 15 bass up to 3.5 pounds. Chartreuse spinnerbaits and crankbaits worked... Continue reading ...

Started down south, but ended up catching all the fish, 9 or 10, near Franks Tract between noon and 5pm. Jigs, Senkos, topwater and crankbaits caught all the bass. Missed a nice one on a Lunker Punker. The largest was just over 4 pounds. Focused on the flats near deep water and current. Continue reading ...

Friday, we launched out of Russo’s Marina at around 7:00 am. This past week has been the first warm stable week of the spring. There was a couple ours left until the bottom of the tide, so we focused on offshore grass in Franks Tract. Throwing LV 500’s and spinnerbaits, we catch a couple small bass (maybe keepers). We move south and fish a couple spot off Old River but have no luck. At the bottom of the tide we stop at Cruiser Haven and look for bed fish. After 10 minutes of frustra... Continue reading ...

Caught 11 spotted bass and 1 smallmouth on nail rigged 7" Flirts and 5" Senkos. Stayed in the narrows and focused on secondary points, 10-20 feet. All fish were between 1 and 2 pounds. Continue reading ...

Launched at Big Break Marina
Saturday morning before the sun came up at 6 am. I was with two other anglers. Both were experienced bass fisherman but neither have targeted striped bass out on the
California Delta. Just as the sun
was coming up the tide turned and started rising. We exited the marina and immediately started seeing smaller
sized stripers busting smelt on the surface. Throwing topwater lures by the boils, we each caught a few
3-7 pounders. Poppers, Vixens, and
Lunker P... Continue reading ...

Started at the mouth of Skiers Cove and caught a few on topwater, Vixens and Poppers. Went up north to Putah Creek and caught a couple more on senkos on the bridge pilings. Worked farther up Putah Creek and waisted 3 hours, no fish. At 1pm we went back out toward the main body. After being dead calm all day, the wind finally picked up. Fishing main lake ledges we caught about 15 bass in the next two hours. DD22 crankbaits caught a few 2lbrs, and the rest of them were caught drop shoting... Continue reading ...

March 26-27, 2009 California Delta
It’s 6:30 Thursday morning and
Tong, Tim and I launch out of Russo’s Marina. We make a 15-minute run south and fish the mouth of a dead
end slough near Orwood. The tide
had just peaked and started to push out.
Using a Shell Cracker on a tulle point, a nice bass swirled on the
swimbait, but missed it. As the
tide continued to push out, we moved into Rock Slough, but found no
action. Finally we caught a couple
on weighted senkos on the outside of Mandeville Island. Around 1pm ... Continue reading ...

It’s 8am, Max his father Carl and I pull up to the ramp. The weather is
perfect and all of us are excited to get out on the water. For them, this is the beginning of a
five day adventure. The first two
days will be spent teaching them the basics of bass fishing since they are
relatively new to the sport. Then
they will be fishing from a canoe they brought for the next three days. We were committed to the north side of
the lake since we wanted to find areas within a canoe ride of the... Continue reading ...

The first big storm of the year rolled through last
week. It was quite cold and
nasty. Once last weeks storm
passed, it warmed up quite fast.
Having three consecutive days of warm weather, I figured flipping wood
should be a solid afternoon pattern.
We put the boat in around 12:30, and worked our way
up the main lake, jumping from one piece of wood to the next. The water was still quite cold, 54
degrees, so we made sure to work our baits slow. Starting out with Brush Hogs
and Ji... Continue reading ...

Finally, some rain.
Charlie and I managed to get out and do some fishing just before our
first big storm of the year.
Because of the last few small storms, the water is already starting to
dirty up. Our first stop was
Packwood Cove. The bass are just
starting their transition from winter to their pre-spawn mode. We caught a few two pounders fishing
10-15 feet just out from the spawning flat in the back of the cove. Small rock piles and wood were both
holding fish. Towards th... Continue reading ...
