It’s been a cold week for all the anglers fishing the Bassmaster Elite Series. By looking at the weights these last few days, it’s obvious the weather has affected the fishing. Thursday we launched out of Orowood at 9:30, just as the tide was starting to come in. We made a short run to Holland Riverside Marina and caught a few small bass on spinnerbaits. They were positioned on the deeper points right at the mouth of the marina. We then went to another similar spot just up the main... Continue reading ...

My friend Taylor and I hiked out to the dam at Kent Lake. We fished for about 4 hours and caught one bass each. Both were caught on Texas rigged plastics, (Baby Brush Hog, and Sweet Beaver). SPOT Personal Tracker GPS Waypoints Continue reading ...

Clear Lake
We launched the boat at the Clear Lake Oaks at around 6:45. Because of all the storms we’ve had these past few weeks, the lake has come up several feet. Surprisingly the water in the lower part of the Rattlesnake Arm is still quite clear (3 feet). Up north though I hear it’s much dirtier. We started off throwing tubes and shakey heads on some of the rock piles just outside the keys, and around Rattlesnake Island. We bounced around from one rock pile to the next, and noticed that a fe... Continue reading ...
January 23, 2010 California Delta
Fished a National Bass West team tournament with Chris Zaldain at the
Delta. We knew the conditions were
going to be tough. In the past
week we’ve had about 6 inches of rain, and today was a bit post frontal with
partly cloudy skies. Luckily the
wind was still blowing out of the south rather than the north. We launched out
of Brannon Island State Park and noticed right away that the water clarity was
minimal, 3 inches at best.
Figuring the clearest water was going to be around Whites an... Continue reading ...

Launched at Big Break Marina
Saturday morning before the sun came up at 6 am. I was with two other anglers. Both were experienced bass fisherman but neither have targeted striped bass out on the
California Delta. Just as the sun
was coming up the tide turned and started rising. We exited the marina and immediately started seeing smaller
sized stripers busting smelt on the surface. Throwing topwater lures by the boils, we each caught a few
3-7 pounders. Poppers, Vixens, and
Lunker P... Continue reading ...
September 17, 2009 California Delta
Launch the boat at 6:15 just before sunrise at Big Break Marina. The tide was going down and we still had a good four hours until it bottomed out. We started on a weedy flat just outside the marina. I was throwing a Lunker Punker and David was using a popper. About 15 minutes into the day, David misses a good sized striper on the popper. Not more than a couple minutes later, I see a guy fly fishing about 100 ft. away from me miss an absolute monster. It looked like someone dropped a V... Continue reading ...
